The New Year brings a great new focus for Tyne Gangway. We are currently completing projects for onshore and offshore applications across the globe. 2015 saw completion of an innovative 48 metre pontoon access gangway. http://tynegangway.co.uk/news/48mtr-pontoon-access-gangway-completed/

As you will know we are registered EN1090 Class 2, so that we can CE our own products. This of course allows even greater confidence for you in our already robustly tested products.

Specialist Products
Last year we moved, due to demand into the Blast mitigation market. This has proved very successful for safety of operatives around the world by helping to stop projectiles during high pressure testing of equipment such as sub sea trees.

Our core business is in flourish too, with demand for our superior design and manufacturing skills. We often find our customers benefit from allowing us to design and build, rather than providing plans, the benefits being in production costs.

Some common popular products.

Self Levelling Step Accommodation ladder
Using a specially extruded step section which gives a safe walking surface through angles of inclination 0 – 55 degrees, the steps automatically adjust themselves to always remain horizontal. Accommodation ladders of this type can be manufactured up to a length of 30 metres. Portable self-locking stanchions, hardwood boatspar, shipside roller, bottom platform and mild steel shore roller are provided as standard. Options include folding handrails, stowage brackets and the provision of special sheave housings. Non-standard equipment can be designed to suit the existing stowage arrangements providing adequate information is made available.

Curved Step Accommodation Ladder
Using a specially extruded rigid step section which gives a safe walking surface through angles of inclination 20 – 55 degrees, accommodation ladders of this type can be manufactured up to a length of 30 metres. Portable self- locking stanchions, hardwood boatspar, shipside roller and mild steel shore roller are provided as standard. Options include folding handrails, stowage brackets and the provision of special sheave housings. Non-standard equipment can be designed to suit the existing stowage arrangements providing adequate information is made available.

Repair and Maintenance

Clients should not rule out repair as an option despite the apparent poor condition of the equipment. Because aluminium is not effected by normal corrosion factors the base material can be worked without this factor to consider. The photographs seen here are the before and after shots of a telescopic ship’s accommodation ladder, rescued from the bottom of Dover harbour. Upon its return to the ship the crew were so convinced that a new ladder had been provided, they demanded class certificates, as well as the simple load test certificate we had agreed with the owner.

When considering the merits of repair, the client should take into account the cost of transport to and from our works, together with the additional cost for a load test, which if witnessed by a classification society representative can prove very expensive.

Maintenance
For standard equipment maintenance is minimal, other than the self levelling step accommodation ladders and passenger gangways which requires lubrication of the step mechanism to prevent wear and noise from the otherwise dry bearings.

More sophisticated gangway systems are provided with a maintenance schedule at time of handover. The company rarely undertakes maintenance contracts for it’s products due to the remote nature of the sites where this type of equipment is deployed.

Tyne Gangway were pleased to be asked to contribute to the new standard DNV/GL-ST-0358 during the consultation period earlier this year.

Tyne Gangway is exhibiting its Gangway and Accommodation Ladder Systems at the DSEI exhibition in September this year. The exhibition is the world’s leading defence and security show and is expected to attract over 30,000 attendees over the 4 days. The show covers information about products and services as well as showcasing the latest industry innovations. The DSEI attracts  top level international military staff, major procurement officials, and the entire industry supply chain.

Ken McDonald said “The DSEI exhibition is invaluable in gaining knowledge from customers and like-minded industrial professionals. It offers us a great opportunity to promote our Gangway and Accommodation Ladder Systems in a relaxed environment allowing people to discuss our products in detail”

Tyne Gangway look forward to welcoming visitors to its stand at DSEI on the 15-18 September at ExCeL London.

Tyne Gangway completes 48mtr Aluminium Deep Water Pontoon Access Gangway for one of the UKs most visited cruise ship ports.

The gangway was supplied with a Steel Cantilever Quay platform and will be installed ready for a busy summer of cruise ship visits.

Tyne Gangway has successfully completed stage 1 & 2 audits by SGS and have been recommended for registration to EN1090 Execution Class 2+

Registration will allow Tyne Gangway to CE mark their own fabrications

Today, Tyne Gangway have been awarded DNV_GL Type approval for our range of  gangways up to 27mtrs in length and over-braced gangways upto 50mtrs.

Our design department has worked with DVN -GL Hamburg and their local office to approve the designs, which completes a two year project to gain approval of all TGs Accommodation Ladders & Gangways.

The DNV-GL Approval will be accepted by all IACS Classification Societies.

The approval paves the way to introducing Tyne Gangways new Range of SHALA, SALA & Shore Gangways, which will be stronger, lightweight and will exceed the requirements of current international regulations.

Tyne Gangway has completed its move to the new premises. The new fabrication facility is larger ensuring that our capability has grown and we are able to manufacture larger walk to work systems & bridges.

The New Fabrication Facility has three 10 tonne overhead cranes and five swing arm cranes enabling a 50% increase in production. The new offices have grown 3 fold. Our outside yard space has increased in size 4 fold enabling us to test & commission prior to dispatch.

We are please to announce completion of our latest offshore gangway system. The MaXccess P series gangway is a joint venture between Tynegangway and OSBIT Power.

The MaXccess-P35 system provides a safe and reliable means of transferring personnel to and from offshore platforms. The system is able to compensate for all 6 degrees of freedom between the vessel and target structure. This passive compensation of motions provides high sea state access with virtually no power consumption during operation. An accumulator system ensures the gangway can be lifted and stowed even in the event of power loss, ensuring no possibility of damage to the gangway or platform.

Tyne Gangway are pleased to announce that our accommodation ladders ranging in length from 2.5m up to 20.5m have gained type approval by DNV-GL. This is applicable for new builds and replacement ladders.  dnv-gl-logo-square
