New Gangway Installed on the Thames

Tyne Gangway is proud to announce the successful design, manufacture, load testing, and installation of a new 32-metre Pontoon Access Gangway at Embankment Pier on the River Thames, delivered for Transport for London.

From initial concept through to final installation, this project has been a pleasure to deliver. Seeing the gangway progress from early design drawings, through fabrication, and ultimately into service has been immensely rewarding for the entire team.

Key Features

  • 32m overall length with a 1.2m clear walking width
  • Full-height mesh infill to handrail
  • Modular construction comprising three transportable sections (1×12m and 2×10m), assembled on site
  • GRP anti-slip decking for enhanced safety and durability
  • Maximum working angle of 12°
  • 1100mm handrail complete with kick plate and half-height intermediate rail
  • Design loading of 5kN/m² plus services
  • Restraint chains fitted as required
  • Integrated security gate
